Entitled Karen intentionally makes woman late to yoga class so she can steal her reservation: 'Sorry, she just took the last spot'

When it comes to exercise classes, the competition is real. It almost takes you back to middle school when people cared who scored a goal in P.E. class (it was never me). While many of us non-athletic folk outgrow that competitive nature when it comes to exercising, there are some fully grown adults who miss that unnecessarily competitive spirit. These are people who are not athletic enough to be professionals, but their exercise regimen is one of the few parts of their lives that provides them with real meaning.

This usually manifests itself in exercise classes wherein they rank the people taking the class in the most obnoxious way that is more humiliating than motivating for regular people like us. However, in this instance, we have an entitled yoga lady whose competitive nature came through before the class even began.

  • The author of this story had to drive 40 minutes to get to this yoga studio and was running late. This was one of those studios where if you did not check in five minutes before class began, your spot would be released. The author got into the elevator with just enough time to spare. However, the other lady on the elevator hadn't reserved a spot of her own and decided to purposely stall the author to make her late so she could claim the author's newly released spot.     I get on the elevator and there's this lady I've seen in the yoga class before and she starts acting super weird. She starts "accidentally" pressing the wrong buttons. Every stop she stands in the doors "accidentally" blocking them. All while glancing at her watch.

    As soon it hits 5 minutes before the start of the class she suddenly remembers how elevators work and we quickly get to the 7th floor where the gym is. Instantly she starts sprinting to the front desk, throws her membership card at the worker and asks if there are any no shows for yoga.

    So now I drove 40 minutes, now have to drive back for 30 minutes and all for nothing. The next yoga class I can make is in a week and I'm just super disappointed. Oh and probably I'm also getting slapped with the no-show fee.
