32 Hunger Games Memes for Fans Who Volunteered as Tribute the Second the New Prequel Dropped

Will Suzanne Collins ever stop? We certainly hope not. It's been almost 17 years since the first Hunger Games book dropped, and we're finally getting the backstory we've all been waiting for: how the beloved and slightly unhinged Haymitch came to be. Though it might be a little disappointing to get a book without Katniss—and, more importantly, a movie without Jennifer Lawrence—we already know this one's going to hit just as hard.

The series has had a cult following from the jump. My friends and I went to every midnight premiere of the OG movies. We even made matching shirts for the occasion and waited in an absurd line to get into the theater on opening night. As a punishment for staying out late on a school night, my mom made me read the entire book before I was allowed to go. But it honestly made the whole experience even better. I think that's what makes this new release so exciting. It's not just a new story, it's the nostalgia, the hype, and the chance to volunteer as tribute all over again.
