16-year-old daughter insists to father that she isn't doing a "princess treatment": 'I want to look good'

Parents just don't understand. 

It's a tale as old as time: a teenager wants to do something, and her parents don't want her to. She wants to see her friends, but they say she doesn't help out around the house enough. She wants to drive the car, but her parents worry about her. Or in this kid's case, she wants to look her very best at all times. But her dad just doesn't understand why it takes her hours and hours to perfect her appearance. It begs the question: how long is too long to do your hair and makeup? Should it take you under 3 hours? What if it takes 4? It totally depends on the person, but if you're spending 3 full hours every single day getting ready to go, it might be a bit overboard. 

In the comments, people gave Dad some really helpful advice about how to broach the topic with his 16-year-old. She's still so young that she'll probably outgrow this habit and learn to enjoy life a little more without all the extensive preparation involved.
