Your boyfriend or girlfriend is like a rock in your life, every present, strong and stable. There's no one who can affect you like they can, and no one to bring you out of a bad state like they can. When you feel so comfortable with a person to the point where you know you can tell them anything without judgement is when you know you're safe.
Speaking the same love language in a relationship isn't crucial, but it certainly does help. When you both enjoy physical touch, you can curl up on the couch together and just enjoy each other. When you're both into acts of love, you come home to flowers and a homemade cake all the time. Or when you travel, you can buy each other little gifts as your act of love. But the point is that it's important to have this connection with your love, your partner, and to be comfortable expressing yourselves.
