One woman recently found herself having this realization after she and her husband moved into a house that his mom had bought for them. Their old house had received substantial flooding damage, and her mother-in-law put an offer on the new one, across the street from hers, without consulting the couple first.
While the pair initially refused her generosity, they eventually decided to move in, but the daughter-in-law found herself struggling with what this meant for her relationship to her husband and her mother-in-law. After her partner's mom brought a stranger to visit unannounced, she started questioning whether she would be wrong to forbid her from making visits to their house.

It may seem like a simple enough desire, but that doesn't mean that it's always achievable. This is especially true in scenarios such as having difficult roommates, or overbearing family members. It is pretty wild the kind of housing situations that some manage to find themselves in and then have to deal with the consequences. Simply put, there is a lot that can go wrong if people aren't careful.
