Okay, who even came up with the idea of spring cleaning? Once we became adults, it became painfully clear that we have to spend every day cleaning… just to keep spending every day cleaning… forever. My boss once told me, "There are two constants in life, taxes and dishes," and I felt that in my soul.

Honestly, cleaning is usually just shuffling junk from one "organized" pile to another. Take spring cleaning, for example. I'll clean out my closet to make room for warm-weather clothes, only to move my winter stuff to a slightly less accessible—but still very much cluttered—location. Why do I do this to myself? And the mental prep has to be the worst part of all. I'll spend the whole day stressing about how much I need to clean, spiral into a full existential crisis, and then finally get to it and it only takes 20 minutes.
