Granddaughter so inspired by her late grandfather's cat that she starts a rescue and helps 300+ cats find their ‘second’ furever home: ‘Her legacy is extraordinaire’

When we think of an animal rescue, we think of rescuing animals who are strays on the streets or in a bad home. These pets are given a hard life that no pet ever deserves. However, what about the pets that were given an actually pretty good life filled with love and family, but, in the end, were still left to fend for themselves heartbroken and alone? We're talking about the pets whose loving owners passed and left them with no back up. It's unfortunate, but it happens. So where do these pets go? Well, one senior citizen's cat inspired a rescue to help with just this issue!

A woman's grandfather passed and left his cat behind. A loving granddad with a grumpy cat that he adored. The cat had nowhere to go after he left, so the granddaughter decided to adopt her. She was unsure at first, but quickly bonded and found this sweet little kitty to be extraordinaire. It started making her think about all the cats there were left behind by seniors who passed and just didn't have time or resources to set something up for their pet.

Thus, “My Grandfather's Cat” was born! The rescue has now helped over 300 cats (and some dogs!) find their second furever home. While they grieve the loss of hooman they also are given the chance to love again—and we think it is simply beautiful! The inspirational cat has since joined her first owner in the sky, but her legacy lives on with ever animal the rescue has saved. We're not crying, you are! Okay, we're crying!
