'Well, I'll say I didn't plan for this': Two 15-year-old Maine Coon cat sisters tragically lose their human, but rather than let them waste away in a shelter, this kind person swoops in and adopts them both

There are some people out there (mysterious people that we don't think we have ever heard of in real lif) that actually plan out adopting a cat. They think about which cat they want, how they're going to financially take care of it, the age of the cat, the look of the cat… We have been informed that this happens, even thought we have yet to see it ourselves. What happens more often is that some day, some random day (or night), we get chosen by our cats, and not the other way around. 

And sometimes, we get chosen by two. Bonded pairs of cats are not to be separated. They are family to each other, the same way that they are family to us. And Rose and Blanche were not only metaphorically but literally family. They're sisters, and unfortunately, their elderly owner passed away before they did, leaving them without a home. But the CDS (the cat distribution system TM) had a plan, and almost immediately, it hooked them up with their new human and home, where they are going to live out their happy and spoiled retirement.

  • See? There are still good people out there in the world. That is what this story reminded us of. For someone to go out of their way to adopt not one cat but two cats, senior cats, cats that are obviously missing their previous lives and owner… for someone to give them a chance… that's good people, right there.

    A friend of mine recently lost her (70+) mom, who lived in another state, who has owned these 2 since they were kittens.

    My friend has 2 boy due to territorialness. Unfortunately, staying where they were also wasn't an option and a shelter or rescue seemed to be the only alternative. At 15 years old, I couldn't let these two (Rose & Blanche) face a small cage at a shelter waiting to be adopted for what would likely be the rest of their lives - or worse.

    So here I am, with 3 cats over 10. My resident 11 year old cat, Sophia (pic 3), isn't sure what to do about this, but everyone seems to be adjusting. They have their room, she has hers, and I have a gate to keep them separate at night but they can still see and smell each other.

  • Oh, this is a proper cat person. And these two cats, no matter how long they are going to live, are going to have some pawsome retirement years. We can just tell that they are going to be spoiled rotten, and we are so, so happy for them.
