When unexpected losses happen, family members have a ton of paperwork, logistics, and belongings to sort through. This, of course, is true for any family following a loss, but when it's unexpected, as it was in this case, there is not much anyone can do to prepare for a simpler transition and division of assets. Here, we have a son whose mother did not leave a will, meaning that this entire process was going to take a while.

Thankfully, he was not living in a family full of difficult and possessive personalities who were going to fight for every last chunk of change. That certainly makes this process less strenuous, but it turns out that a local HOA board member from their mother's community would end up making this process exponentially more challenging than it needed to be.   • This HOA dude was the prime example of someone who had nothing better to do than to stir up trouble by enforcing unclear policies that ultimately weren't even in his favor. The author of this story was smart to challenge this guy after his empty threats of wanting to sue his family.
