  • I regret nothing. The end.
  • "I just quit on Easter in the most Ron Swanson way..."

Picture this. It's Easter, i work at a decent steakhouse, and we're booked up. 300 covers within the first 3 hours. Should be a good shift right?
  • Wrong. We open at 10:30 and I'm in at noon. The majority of covers are from 11-3. By 3pm, I'm sitting at 6 total covers. Other servers are between 15-25. I politely goto
  • my GM and ask to be cut because I'm over it, and this isn't right. He said he needs me. I go up front and see in scheduled for 3 more tables.. at 5 pm. I walk
  • into the office, hand over my apron and vest and state, "I quit effective immediately. There is no reason for more words, "and walked the f out. Never felt better.

  • Jrnation8988 You should have taken all the bacon and eggs that they had
  • ChefArtorias Yea that's f ed. Everyone should have been there for the covers and if you have a gap without any tables they should be able to move something around.
  • IONTOP We tip pooled on Easter. The newest person got the bar area (she's a GREAT server) At one point there were 14 tables seated, I had 5 of them... We had 5 servers on.
  • This happens A LOT. Chef just asked me today, when I had a 6,5,3,4 tops while a different coworker only had a 3 top. "Why does this always happen to you?" I'll get triple seated while everyone else has only 1 table and they're on entrees.
  • And I just go back to what my therapist told me: "You're not the manager, don't try to manage anyone else" Which s ks because I REALLY WANT TO MANAGE MY HOSTS...

  • princesasha It was EXTREMELY slow this Easter. All weekend. I usually bring home $500 for the weekend, but def more of a $300 weekend. Last year was so busy that we closed early.
  • TurquoiseTuna2 I don't know what else was going on with your job environment there, but this slice of it isn't that bad tbh. I hope you quit for more than just one bad holiday shift. the_well_read_neck_ OP There was many reasons leading upto it. It just happened to boiled over that day. I'd had enough.
  • lowfreq33 Always have those owners who think they've discovered a cheat code by being open on a holiday that traditionally nobody goes out to eat. Guess what there's a reason nobody's open.
  • oldestbarbackever I got f ed like that on a Thanksgiy. I had seniority over many and got put in the bar where they didn't telle it was for walk ins. We had a pre set. None of my tables new that, so they split plates. I had 34 tops. I had 4 tables. At 5 I asked to be cut. Luckily they did. I didn't evenake 100 dollars. I stayed. But did not work the next Thanksgiving.
