It feels so good to be recognized for your intelligence, wit, or unique outlook on life. This is exactly what happens when someone likes your tweet. You get the surge of someone seeing you, of someone noticing your talent, of someone relating to you. It's the same type of thrill you get from cracking a joke in a room full of people you don't know that well and making a few of them laugh. "I did it," you think. "I'm valid and interesting and people want me around."

It's the perfect remedy for the insecure personality. Validation flies into the tips of our fingers, doled out by unknown people in unknown reaches of the internet. That is unless you get a tweet with zero likes. Then, it's like, why even bother? Why even put yourself out there if you will be met with nothing in return? You go back to the drawing board and try again.
