  • Someone dumped this dog, is she pregnant or just chunky Question Sorry for the poor quality pictures, she's pretty skiddish. I live quite literally in the middle of nowhere,
  • coincidentally I live where the old humane society used to be. Although I've lived here 10 years- people STILL dump dogs off here. She showed up Friday night, she was hiding behind my shed when I got in from work. This is
  • one of many, so in turn I'm in pretty good contact with the local no kill shelters and rescues but they're all currently full with puppy/kitten season. For now she's safe and fed, we've been scouring Facebook to make sure she's
  • not somehow lost since I have had lost hunting dogs show up from 10+ miles away before and she appears very healthy. She has a couple ticks but I'm working on building trust right now to be able to bathe her without causing
  • too much stress because I have a suspicion she may be pregnant, which unfortunately would probably be the reason someone dumped her. I plan to take her to the vet to be scanned for a microchip, general vetting and find out for sure if she is pregnant but until then- does she look pregnant?

  • UPDATE 1: since it's now Monday I contacted the rescue that took in the litter of puppies dumped on my property last year. Through them I "fostered" the pups for 4 weeks and was able to have their vetting paid
  • for until they were transported to another state to adopt out. I'm hopeful that since all other avenues are full maybe they will let me do the same set up for her. I am willing to foster her but I cannot keep her

  • forever. I'll update once I get some information- if that rescue is unable to help, they should give me other resources to try but if all else fails I'm going to take her to the vet out of pocket, which unfortunately I am
  • not prepared for but she deserves proper care. If she is pregnant and spaying is an option still- that's best but if she's not able to be spayed and is pregnant she will be taken
  • care of by my mother. Fingers crossed that she isn't pregnant and is just a little thick. I'll update when I hear back from the rescue and when there is a plan in place.

  • ambiguous-aesthetic Based on the asymmetrical distended abdomen and enlarged /mammary glands (notably the ones closest to her rear) - I agree she definitely looks like she is pregnant. A vet will be able to say for sure. Thank you for providing her a a safe space until you find her home or find her a home.
  • shrek3onDVDandBluray People who dump dogs are inhuman. They're too embarrassed (or some just don't care) to face someone at a humane society and say "hey I can't take care of my dog anymore/don't want to, please take them in"
  • MeAndDuke This legit infuriates me. That poor dog looks so happy to have any human contact. OP please do whatever you can to find this dog a loving home.
  • spunandfunmaru ⚫ She looks mostly just chunky but has for sure had puppies before
  • Kristina Hartsuck That looks very suspiciously like a puppy bump to me. I would recommend taking her in to the vet for a checkup and xray
