Keeping everything work-appropriate, especially conversations and interactions, is key to keeping the workplace feeling safe, undistracted, and comfortable. If you're not careful, you can be sent to HR for indirectly harassing coworkers in a place where they're supposed to feel seen and guarded. Having light conversations with coworkers is obviously key to fostering mutually beneficial workplace relationships, but not when you use negativity to sour everyone's day… Spoiler alert: You're louder than you think, get away from my desk!

In this next Reddit story, an employee overhears their boss and a coworker bashing the boss's friends. The employee didn't have to try very hard to listen in because their boss and the coworker were loudly chatting next to their desk for some reason. Not only were the two colleagues being overly obnoxious, but they also continued to trash-talk the boss's friends, a couple who refused to play a card game with her. The boss goes full demon mode.   • MamaBearonhercouch We've had a handful of trips with friends and the lack of respect for boundaries is the biggest reason we stopped traveling with one couple. I need my down time. If we've spent all day doing tourist things and talking and being together, by the time supper is over I need to retreat to my room with a book or my tablet.
