I wonder if we will ever definitively prove that aliens exist. I wonder if we will ever get to meet one. It would be so cool if one of them came down to Earth to hang out with us and then we made him a celebrity and he could host The View with Whoopi Goldberg. That's the kind of alien presence we need on Earth, someone who can come down and give us perspective on our planet as someone who doesn't live there. But they should do so in an easily digestible daytime TV context. No intergalactic wars, no abductions, just some good old-fashioned perspective.

In reality, though, they probably wouldn't be able to survive on Earth and they definitely wouldn't speak any human languages so communicating with them might be tough. Unless we had Amy Adams' character in Arrival. But alas, we only have regular actor Amy Adams. So my dreams might be relegated to the world of science fiction.

The good thing about science fiction is that it lets us explore all of our wackiest ideas without harming anyone in real life. While watching ET, we get to feel what it might be like to befriend an alien. And that's just as good. Now on with the memes.
