Certain parenting styles might clash with the outside world's reality. The two extremes of parenting vary from heavy helicoptering to careless ignorance. It's important to find a balance of the two to help your child exercise what it means to have everything in moderation. One way a parent can practice this balance is through food—a healthy relationship with food looks like having anything you'd like in moderation. Of course, if allergies or dietary restrictions come into play, that's a different story. This also teaches your child to understand what the word "no" means and that not everything in life will be given to them, no matter how big or small.

The woman who posted this next Reddit story is venting about her sister-in-law, who expects her to compromise her dietary routine for the sake of the sister-in-law's daughter. The woman's sister, husband, and daughter are staying with her for the week, and the woman refuses to compromise on principle.
