  • My dog hasn't forgiven me for washing his favorite blanket and it's been three days. [Fluff]
  • I made a terrible mistake. I washed my dog's favorite blanket the one he's had since he was a puppy. It wasn't just any blanket; it was his blanket. Worn, frayed, and probably holding memories of every
  • treat he's ever dropped on it.When I gave it back to him, freshly cleaned, he sniffed it once, gave me the saddest look, and walked away. For three days, he refused to sleep on it.

  • He'd lie next to it, sighing dramatically, like I'd betrayed him in the worst way possible. He even tried to drag it outside, as if hoping the wind would bring back its familiar scent. Finally, this morning,
  • he curled up on it again but only after I 'accidentally' spilled a little broth on the corner to make it smell more like home. Has anyone else's dog held a grudge over something like this? How long did it take for them to forgive you?
  • Bethan_B⚫ Ours didn't hold a grudge but she did jump into the dryer the moment we opened it when her blanket was in it. She was concerned the whole time we were washing and drying it.
  • One_Structure_3222. That's so funny because I have this running joke that when I do something that my boy doesn't approve of he will give you "the look". I imagine him saying in a whisper voice, "You're the devil".
  • He gets very unhappy and pouty. I had to leave the house 2x yesterday without him, he went to bed last night on the couch, apparently forgave me this morning though!
  • aggressiveRadish ⚫ When I was younger, we had two dogs, Blackie and Patch. At the puppy stage we used one collar for them both.
  • As they grew, Blackie got a new collar. Patch went off her food and was miserable. Vet said get her a new collar.
  • We got her a lovely sparkly one . She was so proud of it and paraded round showing it off. She then promptly ate like a hungry wolf too.
  • So yep, your dog won't forgive you for a while. That blankie had all his puppy memories and everything in it.

  • Subject988. I once fixed my dog's "lovey," a lamb that I got her as a puppy. It lost an eye, an arm fell off, it was gross and ratty and dirty... So I washed it and sewed on a new eye and put the arm back... She was SO offended.
  • Then my rottie puppy got ahold of it and ripped an arm off and an ear and dog it through mud and I was like "OH NO" but my dog was ALL ABOUT IT. Apparently that fixed it and it was her lovey again.

  • Bubbly_North_2180 I remember when my dog was neutered and had to wear the cone of shame. At first he just sat there giving me the stink eye. Wouldn't come for
  • a stroke, just sat side eyeing me looking so angry. When he realised I wasn't going to take it off, he went the opposite way and decided to turn it into a weapon.
  • Coffee mugs flying off the coffee tables and my shins were bruised for weeks. The collie doesn't forgive or forget haha it's part of his charm

  • haveninmuse My dog would destroy every stuffed animal except the one that was in his crate when he first came home as a puppy. He always gave it preferential treatment and take naps on it (with it →).
  • One day I washed it. Same as you, I proudly gave it back to him. He recoiled and never treated it the same way since. He still doesn't destroy it, but it's been neglected and no naps together for 3 years now
  • Confused Capatiller ⚫ This is too cute. My dog always watches me do the laundry, but when I grab his blankies he RUNS and practically sticks his head in the wash to see where it's going. I never thought he would be attached to the smells on it
  • KartQueen ⚫ Made the mistake of bathing my dog. It was a sunny day so did it outside with the hose. As soon as he was released he went racing around barking at me then rolled in the dirt.
  • cautioussidekick ⚫ I threw out my dogs old pillow after she was sick on it. 6 months until she used the new one
