Company refuses to allow employee to work remotely after firing all of his team who used to work in the office: 'I come in 4 days a week to sit in a silent office.'

The employee in this online story found himself in quite a pickle. His entire team worked from home, but he was still required to come into the office.

“My company has laid off so many people, I no longer work with a single person in office... but I've been denied more remote days.”

All of his team is either out of state or out of the country, but he is still required to commute 50 minutes back and forth four days a week to sit in an office with barely any people. There are only four other people in the office, so it feels like he's working alone every day.

When he asked his boss if he could reduce his office time to two or three days a week, she said working four days a week in the office was company policy. That's rich, coming from someone who works remotely! In fact, the entire leadership team works remotely. They're probably trying to justify their expensive office space, but they're doing it at their workers' expense.
