Cats are like our babies. Like our babies. We know that they are not, but… as people who don't have their own children yet, we end up treating our cats a little like they are babies. We buy our cats cute toys (that they usually don't use, and instead, prefer to play with some random hairband). We get our cats cool and expensive cat trees (only for the cats to sit in the boxes instead). We talk to our cats, we hug our cats, we sleep next to them… we love them, and we show that in our own nurturing ways.

Of course, people remind us every once in a while, after seeing us interact with our cats, that our cats are, in fact, not our babies. And we know. But… we do wake to the sound of a cat vomiting the same way that mothers wake up to the sounds of their babies crying - bolting upright in the middle of the night, fully ready to do whatever needs to be done. So far, we did not know this could be used against us, but now we know.

"A mildly evil idea" is right. And it's genius. We don't know how many times we have joked about the fact that nothing wakes us up quite like the sound of our cats vomiting, and you have taken this knowledge and weaponized it, and you know what? We can't even be mad. We're laughing too hard to be mad.

And you know, it does not sound like the wife was too mad either. An eyeroll is just about the right reaction to something like this. Because it is genius. Hey, if it worked, it worked. The only thing we say now is that you should not overuse this. Do not get her used to it. Only use this mildly evil yet acceptable method on very special occasions.
