Let this story serve as a potent reminder that if you treat your employees poorly and suspend them for no good reason, they might not take that news lightly. Furthermore, if you then ask for said employees to return something, do not expect them to return it in perfect condition.

Personally speaking, I would not be as clever as this employee was. At my most audacious, I'd give my manager a piece of my mind, but I'm far too careful to consider sabotage. So hats off to this guy, who was not going to let his employers suspend him for doing his job and properly following protocol. He wound up getting another job lined up at a competing company and jumping ship, but when it came to returning that work truck, he had other plans in mind.   • Thankfully, the sabotage that this employee concocted was ultimately harmless, but it definitely was a memorable way of kissing that company goodbye. Before returning the truck, he planted six air fresher trees in there just to send the message that these people… well, they stink! As they say, the punishment fits the crime!

    was one in there to make it smell nice but it's the other five they will be looking for. That's what will make it stink for a long time to come. I know they switch the trucks often so that beast will be making some poor eyes water for months on end. To me the black ice smell gives me a headache.
