If you've ever worked in a customer-service-focused role, I want to know what your worst customer did. I know just by asking that question, someone popped into your head. 

Some customers treat retail and service workers as if they're their own personal staffers. If they can't have what they want the second they demand it, they'll throw a fit. I witnessed something like this firsthand the other day. I went to a diner and sat at the counter, eating a delicious French toast breakfast while reading a book. This is the exact recipe for happiness, in case you were wondering. Anyway, next to me was this older woman who placed very specific breakfast order of pancakes and eggs. When her order came out, she sighed loudly. "What's wrong?" the waiter asked very patiently. "Oh, nothing," she sighed. He kept asking her what she wanted, asking what was wrong with the patience of a saint, and all she had to do was tell him. Instead, she just kept sighing and insisting it was all right. She just ate her meal and grumbled under her breath as she did. I truly don't know what was wrong with her order! I think she still tipped the waiter, though, and that's what matters most in the end. Some people don't seem to want their problems resolved, they just want to whine a little bit. 

Service workers of the world obviously really dislike the whiny customers of the world, and a bunch of them shared the moments that pushed them to quit (or in some cases, got them immediately fired). At least they're in good company!

    An unfortunate time that standing up for themself totally backfired! Some managers will do anything to protect their irritating customers — they'll never let their workers protect their peace.
