‘This is especially amusing’: Woman becomes accidental hero employee after she unintentionally catches the office lunch thief

If you packed a lunch for work today, pat yourself on the back. That is such a good habit to get in! Some people are forced to do that because their office is in a food desert, but when it's not… Well, let's just say it's hard to find the motivation to pack a lunch every single day to bring to work when you can just walk right outside and grab a delicious sandwich. Usually, packing your own lunch tends to be healthier and cheaper. So when you pack a lunch, that is a great achievement! Congrats. Now you have something to look forward to!

 

But, oh no, what's this? You have a psychopath in the bunch who is stealing people's lunches! Somehow they are too sneaky to get caught and you can't do the ole laxative in the food thing or else HR will get you for poisoning or something. Luckily, in the case of this woman and her office lunch thief, she didn't even have to take any action to catch him.

  • Haber Dasher Tell them you'd like to file a harassment complaint. You believe this employee is targeting you, creating a hostile workplace for you, making you feel unwelcome & discriminated against. In my state, if my employer failed to take or address my harassment complaint I'd be able to escalate over the company's head and then some of those HR peoples' jobs would be on the chopping block.

  • Your food is labelled with your name, so you're forced to assume they are picking on you specifically. It was not an isolated event that could potentially be explained away by a reasonable person but rather it is ongoing & obviously intentional. Perhaps you've even attempted to rectify the situation by asking the person directly to stop this behavior that harms you & creates a toxic work environment for you.   • CuriousPenguinSocks I've never seen a food thief fired either, I've had a few in my time and they were caught. They got a slap on the wrist and told to not do it again. Since they left my stuff alone, I guess that was all that mattered to HR. I get hangry when I don't get my lunch. I made HR buy me lunch rofl. If it's "no big deal" then pony up. Even then, nobody ever fired. It might be due to contract work as well, so maybe my example isn't the best to use.

  • Expensive-Day-3551 I do not understand lunch thieves. You don't know how people keep their kitchen. You don't know if they are a freak and did something weird to their own food. Unless they are homeless or can't afford food, it's gotta be a weird power thing. If they are willing to steal from their coworkers causing them to be hungry, what other things would they do to benefit their ego?
