'He's a little confused but he's got the spirit': Male neutered cat becomes a "mother" to 2 rescued, stray, weaned kittens, adopting them as his own and taking them under his paw

For animals that have gotten the reputation that they don't care about others, cats keep doing some incredibly compassionate and amazing things. We've seen cat moms adopt kittens from other litters and raise them as one of their own. We've seen cat moms adopt puppies and raise them despite them being so different. We've even seen a common cat adopt a lynx cub and fiercely protect it even as it grew much bigger than the cat. Now, you might say that these are all cat moms, and their instincts simply force them to do it, but… this story disproves it. 

The cat who adopted these kittens, who's nursing these kittens, who's cleaning them and giving them all the attention and love that they need and want… is not a cat mom. Not technically. This cat is male and neutered. He's just that loving. He saw a couple kittens in need of a momma, and was like- yup, I can do that.

    Dekatater OP It's all a matter of perspective I suppose lol, Pichu is only about a year old himself and the kittens I can only estimate but I'd say somewhere between 8 and 16 weeks (so pretty old for a kitten I reckon)

  • He's a little confused, but it is clear as day that he has the best intentions in the world, and we love him so, so much for it. And we are sure that the kittens appreciate him as well, whether or not actual milk comes out of him. This is hilarious. And adorable. And we want to see so much more of them.

  • Hey, as long as the kittens are happy and the cat is happy - and you are happy with the situation, then we think that this is purrfect exactly the way that it is. Some families are a little different, and that is completely okay.

    spiritedawayfox My male cat has let several foster kittens "nurse" on his . I think he understands that they are doing it for comfort (many lost their mother early and needed to be bottle/mush fed). He would just lay there and look completely unbothered
