  • My neighbor demanded I babysit her kids because I "work from home"
  • I work remotely as a graphic designer and live in a quiet-ish apartment complex. A new neighbor moved in a few weeks ago. Single mom, two energetic kids under 7. She seemed nice at first... until she wasn't.
  • It started small with Can you just watch them while I run to the store? Sure. Then it turned into, ...they'll just sit quietly while you work. And spoiler, they didn't. Crayons everywhere. Someone reset my WiFi.

  • Last week she dropped them off without asking and literally rang my bell and dashed. I had a client call in 10 minutes. I was livid.

  • When I confronted her later, she shrugged and said, "You're home all day. It's not like you're doing anything important."

  • So I told her unless her kids come with a paycheck and a LinkedIn profile, I'm not their full-time coworker. She hasn't spoken to me since. Best silence I've ever heard.
  • u2125mike2124. Her ding dong dash with her kids would've resulted in an immediate call the CPS. Her poor life choices are not yours to solve. Not your circus not your monkeys
  • Different Net_6752. It's SO weird because graphic designers must get asked this all the time by over bearing neighbors.

  • Samhain-1843. Ironic. I've actually gotten calls from my own family that go like this "Hi! Are you working from home today? Good! Can you pick up blah blah blah...." They act like working from home means you really don't work. I go into my office upstairs around 6am and usually don't come out until 4pm.
  • mmm1441. Many people have a problem understanding that just because you are home does not mean you are available. It's WORK from home, not hang around the house. Friends, neighbors, and family all seem unable to grasp this simple concept. Idiots, all of them.
  • CakeZealousideal1820. I would've called the cops and said my neighbor left her kids come get them
