Today, one of my coworkers stormed into the manager's office yelling, "I've had it with this place! I quit!" Clearly expecting drama, maybe some begging.
  • 03
The manager just looked up from his computer and said, "Okay, good luck out there."
  • 04
My coworker froze, stammered, "Wait... you're just letting me quit?" Manager shrugged and went back to typing.
  • 05
Five minutes later, my coworker sheepishly asked if they could "un-quit." Manager said no. The silence in the office afterward was louder than their entrance.

Ornery_Ad_2019 • 2h ago I had a co-worker rage quit and she was absolutely livid they accepted it and didn't beg her to stay. She actually expected them to chase her. Didn't even have another job lined up.

Do... A few years ago I had this happen, but in this situation I was the manager. I was absolutely delighted when they put in their notice.

Ironically, they tried to get a job from me a few years later when I worked in a different organization and wouldn't stop texting me. Spoiler alert: they didn't get the job.

Taserface22 · 2h ago Most managers won't put up with that, tbh. They are always looking for new talent, and unfortunately, that's all you are to them.

The manager probably already knew which coworkers were on the fringe of quitting, and was not worth it to make a fuss over.

One time I had a boss, who overheard someone saying they quit, not directly to him, and he took that as his verbal resignation and let him go. 5 years with the company.
  • 12
Moral of the story, the boss. may have wanted that person gone anyways, and most of the time we are valued as pawns in a system.

Some of them tried to twist it into me firing them for their outburst, but I was clear they quit and we had witnesses.
