'You should get a dog with a personality': Dog owner's date doesn't like her Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, Pippen, she takes his comment as a red flag and refuses to meet with him again

It can be like worlds colliding to be a pet owner and talk to someone who isn't. It can feel like you both come from different planets, and one perspective just doesn't blend into the other. In the story here, the protagonist is a dog owner of a beautiful Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix. She has a photo of her little Pippen to share how adorable she is. She has a cute button nose, a scrunched face, and beady little eyes. Anyone who knows animals at all knows that they stare. With their vapid eye contact, or lack thereof, they just stare at things. They could be gazing into your eyes with a docile expression one moment, and dart into another room the next. This behavior denotes normality for any seasoned pet owner. 

My cat can also freak people out, but of course I would consider it a huge red flag if a date said something scathing about my little angel. It's not nice to comment on someone's pet unless it's a compliment. She decided not to see him again, and good riddance.

  • It's so bizarre to make a mean comment about someone's pet when you really don't know them well enough. People are attached to their pets, they love their animals, it's their baby. You can't just throw around scathing remarks!
