Entitled neighbor "insists that the new resident should take down her fence because it blocks her views: 'The fence was entirely on my property line'

It's remarkable what obstructing someone's view from their window can do to an already disagreeable personality. Expect all levels of decorum to go out that very same window! In this instance, a new resident built a standard fence in their backyard. The project wasn't met with any resistance until, of course, it was complete. That's when the argumentative next-door neighbor decided to stir up trouble and demand that it get taken down immediately.

What is it with homeowners and their precious views? Perhaps this is something I could never understand as someone who grew up in a city and who is also part of a generation that is unlikely to be able to purchase homes. Still, while a pleasant view is a nice addition to one's living situation, it's certainly not worth causing drama and unnecessary tension with the people who live right next to you. After all, these are the families who you'll inevitably see day in and day out. Wouldn't you rather swallow your pride and maintain the peace? It would take a lot to get a non-confrontational personality like myself to confront my neighbor because their completely standard picket fence obstructs my view of a few trees.

At the end of the day, if this lady wants to see some trees, she can go to a park! How does her view of these few trees truly benefit her day-to-day living? Anyone who is that reliant on something so small should look inward and ask if there are more important factors that might be contributing to their lack of happiness. Thankfully, the author was not going to cater to Linda's needs, especially since they already had the property surveyed before the project began. We have an inkling that Linda is either a deeply unhappy person or someone secretly conspiring to get more land on her property, or both. Following her failed attempts to convince the author to take down their brand new fence, Linda resorted to pathetic levels of pettiness, throwing leaves and branches onto the author's property just to spite them.
