'My position has been eliminated': New homeowner closes on deal on first house, only to be fired from his job 15 minutes later

It's no secret that the prospects of becoming a first-time homeowner these days feel slim. At this rate, most folks my age are lucky if they can negotiate their rent down upon the renewals of their respective leases. But for anyone out there who needs something to look forward to, don't worry! Job security is in a great place… just kidding. At a certain point, the best way to muddle through these challenges is to laugh at the whole situation, from the lack of growth in our bank accounts to the lack of opportunities in the job market.

This new homeowner finally thought he had achieved the major milestone of buying his first home. The dude probably waited for years until he was in a decent role at his company, earning a solid salary. He likely saved and saved, cutting back on all expenses so that he could afford that down payment. Flash forward a few years, and he accomplished his long-awaited goal. It should have been the stuff of dreams. 

He took the day off to sign the deal and finish all the necessary paperwork, when his boss called him in for a short meeting. At first, he probably assumed it was an innocent mistake. After all, he requested off and the day was approved. However, he had a window of time available and decided to take the meeting anyway. Unfortunately, the all-time high this new homeowner had been riding came crashing down when he realized that this sudden last-minute call was the exact type of call with your boss that you dread.
