Being neighborly is a lost art, at least in the life I'm living. In a big city, it's easy to become anonymous. You live in your isolated bubble and don't come out unless it's for somebody who is already a friend. You may see your neighbors in the hallway and say hello, but it's hard to go beyond that. You don't want to encroach on anyone's personal space, and you don't want to be nosy. But you also know that, in a perfect world, you would be friends with your neighbors. 

That way, you can do favors for each other. It's easier to ask a neighbor to watch your pets, water your plants, or collect your mail when you're away, and you would do the same for them. More than just convenience, though, you would have a sense of community. You would breathe a little easier knowing that your neighborhood is a place where you're welcome. But is the world ready for that? Or have we all retreated so far into ourselves that it's impossible to connect anymore? That's what came up in this Twitter thread.
