Guy pressures his broke friend into splitting the $200 bill at a steakhouse to impress a girl and her friends, but he refuses: ‘I got the least expensive meal out of the 6 of us’

Steakhouses are for successful business deals, celebrations, and surprise engagements, not pseudo multi-dates and a gaggle of girls waiting to be impressed by some boys. However, this young man found himself in a battle of the split bill with his friend after his buddy volunteered to have the guys of the group—just them two—cover the entire bill for 6 people. 

And his friend wasn't too keen on his attempt to impress the girls because it weighed heavily on his cobweb-filled pockets. 

Without two coins to rub together, this group dinner was already a stretch, so one guy decided to order the cheapest things on the menu and then stick to water. But after multiple rounds of appetizers and drinks came rushing to the table, he started to sweat under the collar at the incoming bill. His friend wanted to look fancy in front of the girls, so he offered to cover the check when it finally came, offering up the services of his good friend in the process. 

I get it, he wanted to look like Mr. Bigshot in front of the ladies, but don't drag your broke friend into your grifting scheme if you can't afford to flex on your own. You might just drive a wedge in your friendship in the process of female flattery.

  • BC_Auron You don't volunteer other people to pay for food they didn't eat. Venmo him exactly as much as you would have paid originally and say it was so nice of him to cover the ladies on his own.
