'Leave a horrible review': Feline pawrent leaves her kitty with 5-star cat sitter while on vacation for two months, she comes home to find her 8-month-old cat is very pregnant

In this day and age, there is no reason not to get your cat spayed or neutered. There are too many cats and kittens in the world that need homes as it is, we don't need your indoor cat escaping to get pregnant and bring eight more into the world. For all of your friends who would take a kitten, they are pawsitively invited to go to a shelter and adopt one of their own. When it's your mistake, it's one thing, but when someone else lets your cat get pregnant, it's a whole other thing entirely. Let alone a "professional" who you paid to watch your cat while you were on vacation.

It's hard enough to find someone you trust enough to leave your cat with while you're away. It's your baby. You know all of their little quirks and desires purrfectly. So if you don't have a feline-loving friend, your next best bet is to go with a purrfessional cat sitter…. or so you would think. After leaving her cat with a well-reviewed local pet sitter for two months, the cat mom in this post came back to find her 8-month-old cat very pregnant. Livid would not even begin to describe how angry we would be. We wouldn't pay, and we would 100% leave a terrible review. That's not simply an accident… that's negligence.

  • Yeah - not only would we not pay, we would definitely expect them to pay for the surgery. A cat doesn't just mistakenly get pregnant, it happened from one of a few pawssible reasons: they let the cat out or they put the cat around intact males. Both are things that a professional cat sitter shouldn't do.

    ZelaAmaryills 16h ago I would say spay and al t. You didn't say how old she is but if she hasn't gotten spayed yet I'm guessing young. Cats under a year old can have issues with pregnancy and may abandon the kittens even if it goes well.

    and I would DEFINITELY spay your cat ASAP. Don't wait for the babies- the world doesn't need more kittens and she doesn't need to have kittens at 8 months- it puts her and the kittens at risk.

    wanted to wait until a certain weight to fix which was 6 months. I have seen kittens as young as 4 months getting pregnant. Cats should get fixed as soon as vet says it's safe.

    OP I am sorry you find yourself in this situation. I don't think the pet sitter is reliable. Your cat needs to be apay abort. Don't let her have her kittens and try to re-home them. It is so much worse for your still kitten!!!! Let her finish being a kitten. Getting impregnated is already a traumatic experience she should not have had to endure.

  • We're not huge fans of cancel culture, but in this case, we think it might be appropriate. This “mistake” caused real damage. There's always the pawssibility that they did it on purrpose to sell the kittens, too.
