New mom wakes from a nap to find her newborn missing because her mother-in-law snuck in to “help” with the baby, MIL forced to return her emergencies-only key: 'She can't just let herself in'

Homeowners don't just give away their house key to any schmuck on the street. In the case of emergencies, this young couple entrusted their house key to their mother-in-law, but with a series of oversteps and one big misunderstanding, that trust was broken.

People rarely find themselves so deeply entrenched in family drama that they consider changing the locks to their home. Once a trusted, safe space between family members, this home is where they shared holiday dinners, baby shower celebrations, and post-high school graduation parties. However, after the baby heist that transpired in this next story, a line was crossed, and the sanctity of a budding family's threshold was disrespected enough to rescind their familial rights—and the spare key.  

Perhaps this mother-in-law was just trying to help in her own way, but her assumption turned into regret because she didn't consider her daughter-in-law's feelings. She presumed her DIL would be thrilled about her stopping by the house at random times to help out with the baby, but that wasn't this new mom's idea of "helping." And when the baby went missing mid-nap, fear set in and shattered the remnants of trust between them.
