There is no denying that the average person has a lot to think about every day. From what they are going to eat for dinner to what the heck they are actually doing with their lives, there are all manner of topics in each individual's mind which, if we aren't careful, can easily overwhelm us with stress. When this happens, it is rarely as easy as just being able to stop thinking. In fact, that often just makes our brain go even more into overdrive.

Sometimes what works best is distraction, replacing the things that stress with the things that entertain. Conveniently, that is exactly what we can do when we look at memes. Their main purpose is to show us a good time, or at least one that is better than what we could be doing otherwise. They are a soothing salve for the brain of every overthinker, until they prompt a thought that starts the cycle all over again.
