Pastry chef ruins stepmother's 50th birthday after impolite cake remark: "Stepmom was livid"

If your family has that one person who's an amazing chef or baker, this is your sign to thank them for bringing delicious food to every gathering! Especially if you've gotten complacent, and are used to just noshing down whatever pastries or casseroles that person has brought to the function, it's a good reminder that these things take effort. 

Some people find a ton of joy in making food for others. They love to show up to family functions with dozens of cookies, freshly smoked meats, or elaborate charcuterie boards with handmade cheeses and fresh-cut fruit. These things can take so much time and effort, but if you already adore cooking, it's worth it to see the joy on people's faces as they eat your cooking. For most of us, tasting a cake made from scratch is amazing. We're so used to box mixes that taste okay that we're really wowed by a fresh-made cake. It's a true game changer… which makes it even more odd that this stepmom couldn't appreciate a good cake made from scratch from her pastry chef stepchild. 

If you've got a literal pastry chef in your family tree, you'd better hope to stay on their good side forever, as this stepmom learned the hard way. Chances are, she'll never again receive a fresh cake, and it's all her fault. She doesn't strike me as the type that would apologize for something like this. Instead, she'll probably blame the pastry chef for it forever. They may never speak again, though, as you can read all about in the great story below.
