  • Manager embarrassed me in front of the WHOLE team for “not looking busy enough” so I quit

  • So today my manager basically HUMILIATED me in front of the team. She straight up said I don't "look as busy" as everyone else during the meeting.
  • I wanted to argue but I stayed chill. The reality? I'm literally drowning. my inbox is chaos, I reply in Slack literally anytime even at midnight!
  • It's logged in on my phone, my tasks keep piling up, and I've been pulling late nights just to keep up.
  • I don't talk as much on calls because I'm actually trying to get the work done instead of rambling for

  • To survive i've been hacking my workflow however I can, gemini, copilot, writesonic, workbeaver ai mostly task execution, all that good stuff - it keeps me afloat.
  • I even tried to get a VA (out my own money) but that didnt work out.
  • I walked away from that meeting wondering why i even try. If I look stressed, i'm "disorganized." If I look calm, I'm "lazy." feels like I can't win either way.
  • I put in my notice and gtfo'd quick. I finish my work and MORE and apparently I dont look busy???

  • so I wonder what else they think of me. Felt like a relief. I also have another job on the way that's 30% more my current rate so there's that, feels like a micdrop moment
  • Aggravating-Pin-8845 Yep, let them learn the hard way what you had to deal with
  • OP Interesting Layer9335 Their hobby is calling out something that isn't even there just to feel something. Lol
  • parkerhalem84 Well done, and congratulations on your new job. That ex-manager can now enjoy managing your workload.
  • OP Interesting Layer9335 Thank you Yep. That's one good thing I could think of as well
  • Shartles AndJames Good for you. Honestly, I've stayed in jobs where the manager , and it just was toxic and slowly eroded my mental health and happiness. Eventually I left, but having someone s ing on you all the time takes it's toll, and life is too short. Good luck with your new gig.
  • OP Interesting Layer9335 Been there, done that, it drains the life out of you. Thanks! I'm gonna need that
  • LimahT_25 I want the updates... How did they react and how was the fallout? Is the manager still in the company or did they fire her???????
  • OP Interesting Layer9335 Honestly it was a whole mess for like a week. I ended up getting called to hr because i was so done with the passive aggressive comments. They actually took it seriously, had me and my manager on a call with hr. I showed them my workload, how I had been online late at night, etc. HR basically told my manager to chill and stop singling me out - IDK what else they did with her. She's still at the company but no more in my business now. Funny enough, leadership asked me to
  • Brugatti this is ai
  • OP Interesting Layer9335 are you ai? all ur comments are the same
  • AutumnCountry I did this at my one job One of my coworkers reported me to management for "sitting around" because I finished all my work quickly that day. So my boss brings me in and yells at me for me not being productive enough I left a few months later but kept in touch with another coworker and he said the guy who reported me was d ng because he sucked at the job and it was taking him like 4x longer to get my tasks done than me and now management was riding his a
  • sweer_nugger The greatest petty of my life was having an old coworker call me for something unrelated and happen to mention they had 3 people doing the work I used to do and are struggling without me.
  • Affectionate-Zebra26 Yoooo I had this. I'm an adrenaline type. Meaning I work fast and focused for two hours then need a break, while other workers are slow and consistent. The company started to get everyone to time themselves and it just didn't reflect how I worked. After I quit they realised they had noone skilled enough to do my job so asked me to come back. I asked for a pay raise and got it but they got on my back around timing again and I quit from the excess stress of it. I do my best to
  • mangopabu good for you. the absolute relief it is to quit a job and knowing you have another lined up.
