Yesterday i adopted a new cat. He's a beautiful black american shorthair, and he's so well behaved that its just suspicious. In the car home, he only meowed for a couple minutes before quieting down and looking out the window. I put him in an isolation room to settle in and keep him from my other cat. He

didn't hide, he ate, drank, used the litter box well. My other cat broke into his room (he can open doors) and there was no issue between them. As im writing this hes sleeping next to me on the bed. Whenever i get up he trails behind me and rubs on my legs. I had to pick him up earlier for a minute and he didn't squirm out my arms.

I am baffled. I have owned and been around many cats. throughout my lifetime, and i've never encountered one like this.

Another thing is i am not sure how old he is. Rescue said that he's four, but he's got a very kitten-like look. The long, awkward, legs, big ears, fuzzy fur. When i brought him home and my mother thought he was a kitten! I'm taking him to the vet in a couple weeks and maybe i can get an estimate there.

Coaxed_Realm15 My best friend always says "Don't question these blessings, just accept them." In this instance, I happen to agree with him

_Hallaloth_ Lol. We have four. Other than some minor quirks and squabbles they all adapted quickly and happily. Even the voidlimg as a 3 month old kitten.

itzQuachie I brought my baby home a few months ago - never hid, ate her wet/dry food well, well hydrated all the time, no litter issues, and doesn't scratch up my furniture (except the rare moments she wants to climb a little but that's just cats being cats). Isn't at all disruptive and is the sweetest little princess

I was "wary" too but almost half a year later she's still the most well-behaved sweetie that respects your space and her own while also being super loving and cuddly when the time is right Take the win with your baby!

Primary_Compan... Sounds like you're very lucky with this one! I had one like this too..literally took him about 10 minutes to settle in and he was a joy until the end of his life. I've had others, who were a nightmare lol. Your vet will definitely narrow down the age this is often done based on their teeth...

kikicataku When I first brought home my cat 13 years ago. I thought I made the biggest mistake because he was just like what you are describing and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Never did. Some cats adapt well.

springacres Some cats just seem to know when they're home. My previous cat walked into my house for the first time. Within 3 hours, he'd claimed every piece of furniture in the area we'd allotted to him and was purring so loud you could hear him 3 rooms away.
