‘[That was] money I needed’: Top saleswoman refuses to accept her manager's empty promises after they cut everyone's hours in half, quitting for a better-paying job that values their employees

Empty promises from management can lead to an empty sales floor if you push your employees for too long. Oftentimes, employees will just roll over and accept managerial decisions that directly affect their income, but this top saleswoman refused to sit idly by while her managers cut everyone's hours in half. Going from a full-time work week to a 15-hour-per-week part-time schedule was enough to directly affect the commission coming in at the end of the month, so this working woman did what any motivated employee would. 

She used those remaining 15-20 hours every week to start a deep-diving job search that would ultimately lead her to a better-paying job, a more responsive managerial team, and a workplace that wasn't so darn toxic.

  • This was no doubt to scare the front desk into doing better because the buisness hadn't been doing well and instead of finding a way to be more successful at getting people to sign up, they were going to punish front desk for always doing what they had asked of us all along.

  • They also were very strict about some super shady ways to get people to sign up, like encouraging us to straight up lie to the customer that we had family in the area they were from to create a personal connection.

  • My manager was taking about making makeup and nails required for us, we were required to take pictures on our work iPads of our phones in the back and sign a thing every shift saying we had never touched it, (but I never saw my mangers friends turn in their phones once), there were so many other little things that started making this job so toxic.
