New piggy parent checking in! Last week I spotted this little guy running around under our cherry tree but they quickly ran away under my neighbors shed. They had enjoyed some delicious snacks from our bushes and garden and once we knew it was

there, we made sure that they had a steady supply of hay and a fresh water bowl. Posting on local pet groups got us a couple leads but no owner has been found yet. It took a lot of patience and almost a week but we were able to coax them out and get them trapped!

We've been very lucky to have some wonderful people give us advice and support as we do the best we can for this little guy. We've decided that we are going to keep the furry little potato, they stole our hearts almost immediately and it feels like they picked us after whatever circumstance put them out there on their own.

The current cage was a short notice trip to the pet store but it's the best we can do until this weekend when our c and c cage supplies get here. We're going to up the space and once we are able to get the little guy to settle in and get them sexed, get them a friend so they can live their best lives together!

They've been getting a steady supply of hay and pellets with daily fresh salads. We've been sitting and chatting with them to get them used to our voices and are slowly trying to introduce them to having our hands near them. Its going to be a slow process but we're trying to not scare the little guy too much.

YellowOld2183 I'm glad he landed in your backyard where he found his forever home. Congratulations on becoming guinea pig owners! When you figure out his favorite veggie, make that the only one he gets when its snuggle/lap time.

It'll make him more eager to be picked up and more excited to be held. Have food or snacks to give any time you approach his cage and he'll start to be excited to see you. Guinea pigs are very susceptible to bribes.

NotLucas Davenport He probably watched you from under the shed, seeing you set all that up to trap him and thought, "yes, I've got them right where I want them!"

AlternativeOwn85... This is wonderful! Thank you so much for rescuing this baby. What an absolute cutie pie as well. It honestly seems like you are doing everything right. Definitely take your time with letting him/her get to know you. I adopted two girls from a local shelter and it did require patience, but now they trust me and are super excited to see me!

ResurrectedWolf It sounds like you're doing all the right things. A lucky potato. I would also recommend a vet trip, if you can, just to make sure all is well.

JustNefariousness... Be careful with him. Pigs regularly pretend to be lost or need help so they you will let them into your house. Don't be surprised if you see this little street pig hauling all your valuable out at midnight

IndependentSuns... This is such an awesome success story! I am so glad that everything worked out for this little piggy. And really appreciate you taking the time to humour me with replies when I've bothered you about updates. You will obviously be a great piggy parent and it is lucky to have chosen your yard to hide out in.
