  • Neighbor kept blocking my driveway so I gave him a taste of his own medicine

So this has been driving me insane for like 3 months now. My neighbor parks his massive truck juuust enough over the edge of my driveway that I can technically still get out, but I have to do this ridiculous multi-point turn every single morning.

  • I've asked him about it twice. First time he was like "oh my bad" but then kept doing it.
    via gwg1387
  • Second time he literally just goes "there's still enough room though" and walked back inside. Like dude come on.

  • Anyway last Tuesday I see him outside doing yard work and his truck is in its usual spot.
    via gwg1387
  • So I parked my car directly behind it in the street not blocking his driveway or anything illegal, just making it so he'd have to do some weird maneuvers to back out.

  • Sure enough 20 mins later there's knocking on my door. He's all annoyed asking me to move my car.
    via gwg1387
  • I just smiled real big and said "I mean there's still room, you just gotta do a few extra turns to get out" The look on his face lmao.

  • He hasn't parked anywhere near my driveway since

  • Willing_Confusion330 good on you. they don't understand how annoying it is until it's done to them. hopefully he stops

  • arynnoctavia Some people lack empathy, so you need to make them feel the pain for themselves before they "get it."

  • mostlyfull I was driving this week and had a car merge from the turn lane in front of me at the last moment before the intersection so that he could beat all the traffic. At the next light, another car did the same exact thing to him, and he laid on the horn for several minutes. No self awareness

  • different-take4u The golden rule works both ways and you showed hm just exactly how that works, good job!

  • OfficialSandwichMan Depending where you live, it might be illegal to block a driveway, even partially. Look into your local laws and call the police (non- emergency line, if you have one) to ticket or tow him next time he does it

  • CandylandCanada By my count, you've got 2 3/4 months of equity on your side. When he's frustrated for three months as you were, then you'll be even.

  • Compulawyer I would have had him towed after the first time. Where I live, cars are not allowed to park within 10 feet of a driveway.

  • squeekywheel1 I'm not sure where you are located but in the States and in my state / city cars can not be within 5 feet off your driveway. If they are and especially if they block your drive they can be towed and cited for repeated offense.

  • Ask me how I know. I had the same problem and I just kept calling the police on him until it stopped and they kept having to pay fine after fine after fine. And they could not afford it tbh.

  • imaginaryOpal Prime petty revenge. No long term harm. No overreaction. Just "this is how frustrating you make my day"

  • brutallyhonestJT Personally I'd go as far as to buy a £100 car just to park "in his space" and leave it there forever.

  • i_dont_wanna_sign_in Don't know what justification you live in but there's generally a specific space that must be left from your driveway when parking. If anyone violates that space they can be ticketed/fined and eventually the vehicle gets impounded.
