Neighbour threatened our cats, so I parked my car in front of his "beautiful lawn"

Picture moving into a tidy cul-de-sac blissfully unaware that the right to trim your own hedge comes with a side of surveillance and door-slamming outrage. Accusations fly, fingers point, and family pets suddenly turn into suspects in an ongoing crusade to keep every blade of grass unsullied. Nothing says welcome like being threatened with a trip to the pound over a backyard jailbreak, or learning your fence color is apparently everyone’s business but your own.

Apparently, there are suburbs where street parking strategy becomes a sport and grudges are watered alongside the petunias. Local dignitaries with a passion for lawnmower lines keep score with every tire mark and stray leaf, composing passive-aggressive notes and plotting their next ambush behind curtain-twitching windows. Routine courtesy gets left in the garden with last year’s bulbs while revenge shifts into low gear, involving a perfectly legal but pointed choice of curbside parking. Lawns may be mowed in obsessive patterns, but neighborly charm gets shredded alongside every ripped-up note. In some pockets of domestic bliss, the only real amenity offered by a perfectly trimmed front yard is a prime stage for grudges to take root and grow wild, all under the nervous watch of someone who truly believes green grass means good morals. Some disputes are never truly over, they just wait for the next car, cat, or poorly painted fence to set things off again.
