The adventurous spirit can bite anyone at anytime; however, if you're a cozy, stay-at-home hobbit, odds are, when Gandalf is in town, the urge to adventure arrives with him. Like his magical fireworks, the boisterous call of the wild sparks in the soul of every hobbit. While their lives in the Shire, Hobbiton, or even Bree are plush and comfortable, where they mark every mealtime with a special nomenclatured supper, the hobbits yearn for the wilderness.
May bare feet may trod where no other hobbit foot has stepped.
Similar vibes dwell in the hearts of Lord of the Rings fans. While we may not have the Middle Earth landscapes, the Fellowship at our side, or Elrond's wisdom to guide us, here in the real world, LOTR fans look to Tolkien for adventurous inspiration. Trees can talk, rivers can sing, and Galadriel's mystic is equal parts fear and awe. Orcs run as rampant as the heroes, and the power of the good guys grows stronger than the evils brewing in Mordor. From the comfort of our couches, we can channel our inner hobbit homebody, watching an LOTR marathon on a rainy day, while also satisfying our spunky adventurous spirit. For that, Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin would be very proud.
