Substitute teacher sends kid to the principal's office for tapping her foot, her 30 classmates get even by doing the same thing until their teacher apologizes: 'Middle School is not for the weak'

When you're a kid, it's hard to listen to authority figures, especially when that person is a random substitute teacher.

Let's be real. Unless students are in the middle of a large assignment and already know exactly what they need to be working on, there is no point in expecting much from a class where the teacher is absent. Expecting a substantive hour of learning under these circumstances places way too much pressure on both the substitute and the students. Just put on a tangentially related documentary and call it a day!

The least a teacher can hope for is decorum and mutual respect. This, of course, goes both ways. Students regardless of age should not take advantage of a stranger to purposely cause mayhem in the classroom. At the end of the day, this always backfires, so it's a far better use of everyone's time to maintain one's best behavior.

However, substitute teachers need to be just as respectful. Punishing students for ridiculous reasons is not going to be a way to earn the respect of middle school students. This substitute learned that the hard way!

  • For some reason, this guy thought he could gain control of the classroom by sending a student to the principal's office just for tapping her foot in an annoying manner. To make matters worse, the student wasn't given a warning or anything. She wasn't even trying to annoy him. All he needed to do was politely ask her to stop tapping her foot, and she probably would have listened.

    What happened next was a good old-fashioned taste of this man's own medicine. All the other 30 students in the classroom decided to stand (or should I say tap?) in solidarity with the girl who was sent to the principal's office for no legitimate reason. How did they do this? Well, they all decided to follow suit and tap their feet annoyingly (and not even in unison).

    It's not like this guy was going to send all 30 kids to the principal's office, which is to say once again that strength in numbers typically works out!
