Remote employee's cute dog interrupts stern meeting with HR, saving him from getting reprimanded: 'Well… at least your dog seems supportive'

Sometimes, a pet is all it takes to charm your way out of trouble.

This remote employee was called into an emergency meeting with a representative from human resources to discuss their tonal etiquette on Slack. Apparently, he was using far too many one-word responses that his coworkers began to project a hostile tone onto his messaging. For whatever reason, this needed to be a meeting rather than a simple email reminding folks to be mindful.

However, the author was lucky enough to have a secret weapon that he didn't even realize could be the key to getting him out of trouble. Yes, this HR lady was a dog-obsessed individual, and when the employee's dog crashed the Zoom meeting, all reprimanding seemed to go out the window. Instead, the rest of the meeting became about dogs.

  • As far as the one-word messaging goes, sure, maybe this guy could have been a bit more communicative. However, it is just as important for people to be mindful of projecting tone onto someone else's words as it is for people to watch their own respective tonal messaging. After all, communicating with your coworkers is a two-way street!
