When the ask finally goes the other direction, the company remembers its rules real fast. The same coworker who just lost everything says no to unpaid overtime. She gets called uncommitted and slapped with a warning. She quits a week later, a few others follow, and the exit interviews all call out the hypocrisy. Leadership hears the message, then decides the hiring process must be broken. The corporate family vibe never dies, but nobody’s fooled anymore. The only tradition that holds up is empty talk and payday promises that always arrive, but only ever on the company’s terms.
