'Zelda chose our son as her person': From daily walks to bedtime check-ins, this affectionate pit bull shows how deeply her breed can love when given a chance

Pit bull rescues get asked all the time why they choose to focus on this breed, and stories like Zelda's make the answer incredibly easy. Pitties may have a tough stereotype, but anyone who knows them understands they're big-hearted softies who love deeply and choose their person with total devotion. Zelda proved that the moment she met the family's young son.

She walks him to school every morning, waits by the door every afternoon, and checks on him throughout the night as if it's her personal job. Most days she can be found curled up beside him while he plays games or does homework, happy just to be near him. Even though she was originally adopted as a companion for another bully rescue, Zelda had her own plan. She chose the boy, and that bond became the sweetest part of the household.

This kind of gentle, loyal connection happens constantly in pit bull rescue. Dogs who were misunderstood or overlooked often turn out to be the most affectionate companions imaginable. Zelda's story is just one more reminder that pitties aren't scary. They're love in a very wiggly, very snuggly package.

  • She is absolutely in her happy space, you can just tell. Curled up next to her favorite tiny human, relaxed and content. This is pure comfort energy and it’s adorable.

Lucky for me most of the parents understand that pitbulls really like children and their friendly dogs in general so they let their kids come over and play. People really have no idea what kind of dogs. they really are.
