Getting a new kitten is akin to having a baby – you're constantly on guard taking care of something. You need to be on high alert around your little kitten. In any moment, it could get into trouble that you'll have to save it from. It could destroy something, it could eat something it shouldn't, or it could need food when you didn't know it was hungry. It's a lot of responsibility, and on top of being a teenager who already feels like the weight of the world is on her shoulders, it can be the cherry on top of your stress levels. 

That's exactly what happens in the story below. The protagonist is a 19-year-old college student who's always wanted a kitten. Her mother has had a phobia, which has inhibited her from getting one, but finally her mom gives in. She finds that she's filled with some level of regret, and starts to question her life choices.
