'I never thought I'd have a cat': After teens discover abandoned kittens at a park, two siblings are taken in by a family facing big changes and become the Sun and Moon that brighten every day

Sometimes the Cat Distribution System really does deliver exactly what a person needs, even when that person has no idea they're about to become a cat parent. What started as three teens stumbling across a trio of abandoned kittens at a park turned into a whole new chapter for a self-described "dog family." With allergies, chaos, and zero warning, two of those kittens ended up in the arms of the one person in the house who wasn't allergic who immediately stepped into the role of caretaker.

They began in the bathroom, tiny and wormy but determined, and soon moved into her room, where they found warmth, safety, and more love than they could have imagined. While life around the house shifted, the kittens stayed a comforting presence. Sun bonded with one of the dogs and decided she was his honorary mom, while Moon perfected being delightfully strange. Together, they learned, explored, and became inseparable.

Through a difficult year, these two little lights brought joy, routine, and comfort when it was needed most. They didn't just find a home. They helped heal one.
