Neighbor confronts the entitled old man who keeps moving his trash cans without permission: 'This person knows EXACTLY what they're doing!'

  • A truck picks up trash cans in a suburban neighborhood.
  • "A neighbor keeps pushing my trash can into my driveway so my trash doesn't get taken, what to do?"

Every week on trash day, I noticed thru my security cameras that a neighbor who I never met before keeps pushing my trash can and another neighbor's cans all the way into my driveway,
  • which ends up in my trash not getting taken. What should I do? I never met them before but it's been such an inconvenience not getting my trash picked up and
  • having to call to reschedule if possible. I can't stay home and watch my cans as I have to go to work early in person and only have 1 car to drive to work. I am not certain which house they live in but they always seem to walk by to push cans in.
  • Update: called local deputy, they went to the house of a truck previously parked at my house and knocked but no one answered. I left a note in the mailbox but a woman from the house drove by and asked me what was going on. She said only
  • her brother lives with her and they don't park or touch my cans which could be a lie. Now idk if the old man moving my cans is from a different house so i don't have a mailbox to leave a note. In
  • my video I saw the man doing it to another neighbor. I talked to that neighbor who told me their trash also hasn't been picked up for weeks and they would keep an eye out on trash day.
  • An older man wearing a button down shirt and a pair of glasses.
  • sir_are_a_Baboon... 4d ago This person knows EXACTLY what they're doing. They are beholden to the same rubbish collections rules. Your inaction has emboldened them to continue.
  • Pinkie_Flamingo78 · 4d ago . Call your city's waste management department and ask them for advice. Since you have video evidence, they might be able to get the police to ticket them for interference with city services.
  • Wodan11 4d ago . Start putting your can in front of their house.
  • lostnsocal213 · 4d ago I live in a dead end street. i have a neighbor that acts like he owns it. moves my trash cans and blocks my car and driveway. I moved his and boxed his car in with his trashcans. I think he got the picture.
  • TheBookishFoodie 4d ago The person who said to call waste management and send them videos is the only correct one here.
  • But since I am petty and incorrect, I'd recommend putting the videos on NextDoor and pretending like I don't recognize him and need help IDing him.
  • SoarsWithEagles • 4d ago On the night before trash day, after he puts his full cans out, drag his cans over to where you usually put YOUR cans, drag YOUR cans to where HIS go, so
  • after he pushes your (actually his, now) cans up your driveway, the truck will come along, empty your trash from his side of the street, then you can slide his still-full cans back over & retrieve your own now- empty cans.
  • Best if you spray-paint your house number on the bottoms of the cans, so you can ask him why he has your cans.
  • NoParticular2420 • 4d ago . You have no choice but to confront .. you don't need to scream like a crazy person but you need to be firm and upfront no beating around
  • the issue... " Please stop moving my trashcans on trash day" and if he keeps doing it thats when you scream like a crazy person or you can start chucking you trash bags into the back
  • of his truck and when he asks you why are you doing this you can say "oh I thought you were going to take my trash to the dump since you won't stop moving my trashcans in trash day!
