When you have a pet of your own, it can be one of the most enriching experiences for a person. Having a furry companion, someone to love and hold, to pet and protect, and knowing that they don't have judgement, resentment, and that they can never hurt you. Whether you're a dog person, cat person, fish person, or the infamous hamster person, pets give you a joy that you just can't find anywhere else.

Of course having children gives you the same or even more joy. Probably more for parents out there. And when you can see the love you have for your doggo coalesce with your love for your child, there's definitely no better or more wholesome feeling. I know the breadth of heartwarming joy my sister felt when she saw her kitty curl up with her newborn for the first time, knowing that her little daughter has a furry companion growing up.
