One mother noticed that her mother-in-law was playing favorites with her children, and she wanted to put that to an end. Grandparents are an excellent influence to have on your children's lives. They can teach them things that you, as a parent, never can. They're a great outside perspective, and will affect your child's life for as long as they live. We should do our best to keep grandparents around. Plus, they're often willing and able to babysit your kids, which, let's face it, you're usually in need of. But you naturally also will have boundaries around their level of influence in your child's life. 

After all, they're not their parents, and parents should always have the final say. But what happens when they start playing favorites? The favorite child probably loves the attention lavished upon them, but it might have pretty negative consequences for the one that's being overlooked. But are you, as a parent, in the right to decide how much attention they give your children?
