Rescue dogs come in all shapes and sizes. They can be anywhere from dangerously skinny to horrifically overweight. It is up to the rescuer to help them reach a healthy weight. In the cause of sweet baby girl Mazzy, she was overweight. Not horrifically, thankfully, but still unhealthy. So her rescuers worked hard on getting her to a healthy weight. During this dieting transitional period, they cheered on her progress by calling her sweet names… Like, Chungus. Actually, in turns out, they called her Chungus so much that now she thinks that is her full government name. She doesn't respond to Mazzy anymore, only Chungus. And she does it with a smile and a wagging tail!
Mazzy's… Or Chungus' hoomans discovered this during a moment when they were calling for her to come for a walk. They recorded themselves getting ready to take her out and they called out, "Mazzy!" It dawned on one of them that she actually might be confused with her name. So the other hooman thought for a second and finally called out, "Chungus!" And the sweet, now at a health-weight, pupper got right up and came right to them. It might not have been the name they planned, but it's the one love chose!
